I’m a Southern art school grad who relocated to the Midwest for law school. I have two rescued huskies, a husband and a young son, so there’s always a lot going on in my life. I like documentaries, 60’s spy tv shows, and procedural crime dramas. My favorite color is grey and I’m obsessed with foxes.

I love makeup and I buy too much of it. I’m not an expert, but I hope that by giving my honest opinions about products and by showing different ways that I’ve used them, I can help other makeup junkies to find products they love. In addition to makeup, I’ve expanded the blog into subscription box reviews and some clothing sites, because why not?

I want to give my readers the most accurate impression possible of what the makeup I wear really looks like. I include pictures from different angles and sometimes different lighting in every entry.  I don’t do this because I’m that vain (having a makeup blog featuring my face is vain enough) but because it’s hard to communicate a look from just one angle.  Makeup is applied to a three-dimensional surface, so it appears different depending on where you’re standing and I want readers to have a real sense of each look.

A couple of disclaimers:

1. I do Photoshop all of my images, but only to make the makeup look true to life.   My camera isn’t the best and the original photos usually look “off,” so most of my retouching involves adjusting color balance and lighting to try and make the cosmetics show up as accurately as possible. Sometimes this means the rest of the picture looks a little tinted, but I do my best to represent the true tone and pigmentation of the applied products. I’ve been burned on online purchases based on wildly inaccurate swatches, so I know how important it is to get the colors right with makeup! I also correct minor skin discolorations, stay brow hairs, etc. I don’t change my overall appearance, I just try to clean up anything distracting.

2. I’m also not being reimbursed for endorsing any specific products or companies, but many of the shopping links I’ve included are affiliate links and if you buy directly from the links, I get a tiny percentage. This helps me to buy more products to show you! I also post non-affiliate links to products I like, so my product picks and recommendations are really based on my unbiased opinions and not the promise of a few cents in commission. I received a few promotional product to review, but I always disclose these reviews and try to remain objective. Most of what I use in my posts is purchased with my own money.
