I did some pre-fall shopping thanks to some awesome Labor Day sales, and I got a couple of new fall lipsticks to match. I got a classic, (non-orange!) red lipstick via Sonia Kashuk® Satin Luxe Lip Color SPF 16 in Classic Red 93 ($9.99). This isn’t so much a fall color as it is an all-seasons color, but I’m currently collecting every shade of red that I can, so this was a great addition.
It’s nice and creamy and I LOVE the packaging, but the main reason I bought it was for the spf 16. I’m trying to get a little bit more out of all of my products these days, so I prefer lip products that keep me protected.
It’s a rich, true red that would flatter any skintone. I’ve written before about different shades having different personalities, but this color is super versatile could go from playful to full on bombshell with a few wardrobe changes.
I also picked up Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Blissful Berry 410 ($7.99), a very current plum lipstick that works well with the fall 2013 purple lip trend. It’s not as opaque as I had expected, but it’s very glossy and smooth, and I think it’s extremely wearable. It’s a little more plummy than the pictures show. I tried to adjust the colors it to get the tone as close as possible, but you’ll have to use your imagination a little. If you want to ease your way into purple lips, this a great color to get you started!
Such pretty shades!
I love how Maybelline lip tends to be so emollient & moisturizing, but their color payoff is never as saturated as the product seems to be 😦 I guess I should just assume that about drugstore lippies by now, huh?
It’s true. At least in this case the slight sheerness seems to work, but it can definitely be disappointing at times.
Actually, I’ve found the Maybelline Blissful Berry leaves a very nice stain all day long. This is true without lining my lips and especially true if I do. It fades into a very pretty pink color and I love it so much because I don’t have to worry about reapplying right away as it wears off.
